Vikki & Neil, Doxford Hall – 17th October 2009

2009 December 2

Vikki & Neil, Doxford Hall

I love autumn for all of its wonderful colours and Vikki and Neil picked a beautiful day for their wedding in October.  The venue was Doxford Hall, which is full of fantastic backdrops and grounds for photography.  The colours on the trees were amazing and I wanted these to be very prominent in their wedding photographs.  Vikki and Neil are so natural together and this definitely shines through in the photographs.  Such a great couple.  I wish them a life time of happiness. Kate & Ben, The Vermont

Kate and Ben are a great couple to work with, very stylish and cool.  They got married on 3rd October at The Vermont, a beautiful day but blowing a gale!  Kate’s dress was magnificent, a photographers dream to work with and she was happy to play to the camera for some fantastic shots.  It was a bit of a star studded event with Kate and Ben’s friend’s The Krankies and a special appearance from David Gest, who was staying at the hotel.  Their wedding was a much more relaxed affair with afternoon tea.  The dining room was full of beautiful fairy cakes, scones and sandwiches fit for a King and Queen.  Much appreciation to Kate and Ben for all the time they gave me to get such beautiful shots!

I am in talks with Kate at the minute to arrange a post wedding shoot, as I just can’t say goodbye to this lovely couple and THAT DRESS.  Kate is more than happy to have another SWOOSH! x

Mia’s first trip to Bolam Lake

It feels like 5 minutes ago that me, Alex and our buddies were sitting in the common room at school, on a Monday morning, discussing the dramas of a Friday night out in Newcastle.  What fun we had and without a care in the world.  And now, I’m photographing her gorgeous little girl…… how did that happen?!!  Ok, yes, I know how that happened, but where has the time gone, its scary.  Mia is 17 months old and such a sweetie pie.  Alex and I had been planning to do this shoot for ages, so we headed to Bolam Lake with Mia and daddy, Eddy, last Saturday.  Alex brought a football and favourite teddy to keep Mia entertained but she was far happier with the simplicity of throwing sticks into the lake.  My kind of girl!  So, for all those fond memories I have of us growing up Alex, here are some fond memories of Mia’s first trip to Bolam Lake x

Nicole & Jamie, Tughall Grange, Northumberland

I knew the first time I met Nicole and Jamie that they would be very comfortable in front of the camera and after their pre-wed, I couldn’t wait for the wedding day.  Sadly, the weather didn’t go in their favour and it was a wet, grey northumberland day.  This, of course, did not stop it from being a fantastic day for them.  They got married at St. Ebba’s church in Beadnell and then went back to Nicola’s family farm for a marquee reception.  I kept hoping for a clearing in the weather, but even if it had come, the thought of asking Nicole to walking around the now muddy farm in her white dress filled me with dread.  So in the end, I suggested to Jamie and Nicola that we have a post-wedding shoot when they return from their honeymoon.  After all, with such a confident couple, fantastic location and stunning wedding dress, who would miss the opportunity to photograph them again, without the time restraints and bad weather.  Thank you to Nicole and Jamie for getting dressed up again and giving it there all!  Fabulous catering by Emily Botham Ltd.

Katie and Richard, Prudhoe

As you will all have guessed, my name is Katy and I am a twin.  My twin brother is called Richard.  So, as soon as I had Richard and Katie’s enquiry for their wedding this October, I instantly warmed to them.  Sounds stupid but I did.  Anyway, time has come around fast from the first meeting with Katie and Richard and they will be getting married next month at a church in Prudhoe and then on to Matfen Hall for their wedding reception.  They live in Birmingham, so have been to-ing and fro-ing at weekends to bring everything together for their day.  I took the opportunity to head over to Prudhoe one Saturday morning for their pre-wedding shoot and they had suggest a nearby country walk.  As it has rained rather a lot lately in the North East, the track was pretty muddy and I was slightly concerned for Katie’s boots but we managed to tread carefully and find some great spots for their shoot.

Kate & Ben, Newcastle upon Tyne

I took Kate and Ben into Newcastle city centre for their pre-wedding shoot.  When I first met them, I thought that they were perfect for an urban shoot, as they are funky dressers.  They are getting married at The Vermont, in Newcastle upon Tyne, so it was a great opportunity to head down to that area of the city and have a play with the locations that are on offer.  I’m looking forward to their wedding day in early October.

Anna and Pete, Chollerford

Anna and Pete are getting married later this month, so it was time to meet for their pre-wedding shoot.  I do this with all my clients, to put them at easy before their wedding day, which all clients agree is very beneficial.  We were battling with the weather the day of Anna and Pete’s shoot but we were adamant that we would find a rural location to work with.  After lots of thinking, I suggested that we head to Chollerford, in the North Tyne Valley.  It ended up being the perfect place for the photo session and the weather behaved.  Anna and Pete took no time to relax into the shoot and here are some of my favourites.

Jenny & Ben, Eshott Hall August 2009

I cannot begin to say how much I enjoyed photographing this wedding last weekend!  I haven’t stopped talking about it since.  Jenny and Ben are a gorgeous couple and are so comfortable in front of the camera.  As I said in my pre-wed post, they need little direction and true to form they were full of smiles and affection for each other, a pleasure to photograph.  The atmosphere was fantastic, Jenny and Ben were beaming and all family and friends made me feel so much a part of the day.  They had a very intimate civil ceremony, with their immediate family and bridesmaids in the library at Eshott Hall.  They then went outside,  into the gorgeous grounds, for their Jewish blessing with family and friends.  It was a very emotional service with tears from both Jenny and Ben.  Jenny looked absolutely beautiful in her Anna Sui wedding dress and hair styled by Carolyn Clayton.  Perfect flowers for the wedding were again supplied by Cinnamon Rose.

Jenny, Ben and Bruno – Durham

2009 August 26

pre-wedding shoot

Jenny and Ben will be getting married this Sunday at Eshott Hall, in Northumberland and they are now up in the North East putting the finally preparations together for their big day.  Jenny’s parents live in Durham, so we thought it would be perfect to meet down by the River Wear for their pre-wedding shoot.  It was a beautiful afternoon for their shoot and they took it well within their stride.  These two are so natural in front of the camera and needed little direction.  Bruno their 17 month old put a smile on all of our faces.  I’m really looking forward to photographing their wedding on Sunday, they’re a gorgeous family!

Angela & Steven, Doxford Hall, August 09

Angela and Steven were very very lucky with the weather for their wedding day on Saturday, as Friday was a wash out!  They chose the beautiful Doxford Hall for their wedding day.  I hadn’t visited this venue before and was very impressed.  The grounds are spectacular and the inside of the hall is nice and light for photography.  Angela’s dress, from Accent, has to be the 2nd largest I’ve seen in 5 years of photographing weddings!  She looked like a princess in her dress and Jimmy Choos with her orchid bouquet, supplied by Cinnamon Rose.  Their day went wonderfully, with a little surprise for their guests in the form of Frodo the barn owl ring bearer, who flew down the aisle to give the bestman the rings and three very heart felt speeches from Angela’s dad, Steven and his brother.  I wish them all the happiness in the world.
